No threats, beat him to it :)
So here we are again. Another month, another blog. I have held out on writing another blog yet again. However, I think Coach might be onto me. So in efforts to avoid threats (again), I will write a heart felt blog full of interesting remarks and sharp wit.
I’ve found that I don’t hate doing blogs; I’ve just made a game out of not doing them. They really don’t bother me and can be kind of, dare I say, fun. But, what’s even more fun is watching Coach flip out about those who haven’t blogged that month. He has yet to catch onto the fact that I haven’t blogged which is funny to me. I’ve just kept silent when he mentions them and agrees if he says something about “so and so” not writing. So as you can see I won this month. He didn’t catch on and he won’t realize it until after he reads this. Gosh, I’m a sneaky little devil.
Anyway, onto my actual post. Coach wrote a review of a show called “The Secret Life of an American Teenager” for his monthly blog. I have decided to respond to his T.V. program bashing. However, I am an avid watcher of this particular show. I suppose the term “guilty pleasure” would be appropriate. I am the first to admit that “SLOTAT” (Coach’s abbreviation) is basically “7th Heaven” on crack.
Despite the obvious plot lines and way too dramatic acting, it has become addicting. I do my best not to miss an episode, but if for some unpreventable reason I just catch it online. All episodes are on abcfamily.com. I suggest you give it a chance, ignore Coach Davis’ “Spoiler Alert.” He’s not as funny as he thinks….haha.
Well there it was another blog….until next month…or maybe a little after.
PS: The song “Cheater, Cheater” by Joey and Rory is my favorite right now. Check it out.

Result of Severe Threatening By Coach
Seeing that Coach Davis is threatening to drop my grade if I don’t write my monthly blog, I suppose I should write it. As usual I don’t remember all the topics. So I’ll start talking about the one I can remember and we’ll see if the others come to me as I write.
Okay, here we go. Movie I wish I hadn’t paid money for. I love all movies for the most part but as we all know, movies get talked up a little too much. Some just don’t deliver the epic suspense or amazing ending we were expecting. Sadly, some just down right suck from the moment the Wherenburg whispers stop and their credits roll.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a series of 4 books. All of which have a good story line and strong characters with various personalities. Taking those into account, you would think that it would be simple to re-enact all four, right?
WRONG!!!! The second movie was literally 3 books put into one movie. Seriously, who does that? Not only did they leave chunks out of the movie but they also reordered the entire movie. I wanted to walk out and the only thing that kept me there was the fact that I had paid, oh and I didn’t drive. Oh of course, I’m sure if I hadn’t read the books I would have loved it..blah blah blah. Whatever, I read the books and they were way better.
There are other movies that are equally awful but I will let you find those.
Let’s see…another topic I think was Talent I wish I had. This isn’t necessarily a talent but I still wish I could do it. Read minds. I’ve been reading Twilight. Yes, yes I know…I gave in and starting reading them. Say what you want, Edward is sexy (sorry if I’m not supposed to say “sexy” Coach, oh and sorry for saying it again). Edward Cullen can read minds, well not Bella’s, but still it’s quite amazing. Anyway, it made me think, “What if I could do that?” I mean, think about it. You would know if people were lying 24/7, be able to choose friends more wisely, and always know if someone meant you harm. Granted, you could never be surprised and you would hear people’s thoughts when you didn’t want to. But hey, there are always two sides. However, if I can’t have that little talent….Edward Cullen would do.

I’ve decided since I can’t remember the blog topics for the month, I’m going to write what is on my mind at the time. Well, I am currently watching the CMA’s and blogging with some fellow HTV staffer’s, Coach and Kala. I have grown to love Country music over the years. I was around it a lot when I was little, but that was Branson, Missouri’s version of Country. So because that was what I was exposed to for so long, I strayed away from Country for the longest time. However, my group of girls is pretty much in love with Country music and being with them 24/7 made me grow to love it. Although if I wasn’t a fan of this genre before I entered HTV, I’m sure I would be after the class. You see the love for Country music is crazy in HTV. Each morning Coach turns on some good ‘ole CMT and we watch the latest videos while drinking coffee. Not to mention pretty much every girl staffer loves Country.
Onto my next thought….Memories Video. I have a lot to do and I am behind on my deadline…I suck. That’s all I’m gonna say about that because I know Coach hates when I talk about “stupid cabinet stuff.”
I am so excited for Winter. I’m glad it is finally getting cold. It should never be 70 degrees in November!!! It’s time to bundle up in coats and scarves with some hot coco!!!! I will soon be making a trip down to Silver Dollar City to enjoy the lights and the fully loaded hot chocolate. I’m sure in about 2 months I’ll be sick of the cold but for now I’m glad it’s here.
With Winter comes another thing I’ve been looking forward to. Basketball season. That’s right I love Hillcrest Basketball with a passion. Our fans get so into it and everyone goes to the games. Alex and I have already started planning our spirit nights and what we plan to wear for games. It’s our senior year and we’re going all out.
Lastly, I met Larry the Cable Guy. He and his wife are so nice and their kids are adorable.

It’s my senior year, the last chance to make the most of high school before everything changes and it’s time to close this chapter. I have an insanely tight group of friends and the idea of leaving them is hard. However, that’s not my focus for this blog. If I continue to talk about this I think I’ll leave tears on the keyboard…So onto a happier part of senior year…Homecoming.
In our group of friends it’s a constant argument with our guys about how to ask us to dances. We always insist on cute ways and pretty much tell them we will turn them down if they ask us in a lame way. Harsh, I know. So this year our boys truly outdid themselves. I knew who I was getting asked by but wasn’t sure of how. Little did I know I was going to be asked publicly…very very publicly.
It was at our first home game this football season and I was so pumped up. I love watching football and with it being our first home game I was extra excited. After the first quarter I heard the loud speaker mumbling something and I could have sworn I heard my name but I just ignored it. Then I kept hearing my name and pretty soon I have my friends yelling at me to stand up. I start to listen closer and I hear the anouncer saying, “Mehleena, Homecoming is here, the last one we’ll see; I hope that you’ll spend the evening with me!” I thought that was the sweetest thing ever and of course I was going to say yes!
I started towards the press box to give Christian my answer when I’m met by his little sister, who is holding a dozen Lipstick roses and about six balloons. I couldn’t believe he had done all this. He put so much thought into it.
It kinda made me feel bad about giving all the guys crap for not being creative. Props to our boys this year, you all made it pretty special for all of us. I love you guys!
Homecoming is just the start to this year. It’s already going by fast and I’m not ready for it to be over. I have a feeling these blogs are going to be my way of dealing with saying goodbye to everyone and all the memories slowly…just to warn all of those who actually read these. Coach says people really do love our blogs but I honestly think that he just says that so we’ll write them. Either way here you go!
Wad or Fold
As usual I’m late in writing my blog. Sitting in class I’m getting yelled at by Coach to, and I quote “Get off your butt and write your blog!” So here it is…
Fellow HTV’er Rachel and I have been discussing a very interesting topic the past few days. I don’t want to gross anyone out but it involves toilet paper. The question is do you wad or fold? We’ve found that women wad and men typically fold. Every now and then you’ll find a girl who does the “four-finger wrap around and scrunch” or the boy who wads.
Where do you stand on the issue? I think we may do an HTV story about it but we’ll see if Coach goes for it.
None the less it’s a perplexing topic and deserves attention.
Hawaii Sick :(
HTV got to go to Hawaii over Spring Break and it was absolutely amazing. I loved everything about it. We laid on the beach for hours with no worries. However our time spent there was short lived, we had a rude awakening coming back to good ‘ol Springfield.
Springfield is cold and seems even colder when you’ve been in 80 degree weather for over a week. I’m having Hawaii withdraws. I’m still not adjusted back to our time zone and I just want to go back there. I’m friends with people we meet there on Facebook and stuff. Looking at their pictures and through mine from the trip make me miss it even more. I want to live there. Our weather here is annoying and inconsistent. Boo…
Depressing blog I apologize, I’m just home sick for a place that’s not my home…

This past weekend was the start of the fun times ahead of me these next few weeks! Let me just give you the list of things I’ve been looking forward to, that are finally here!
1) Buzz-A-Thon (already happened!)
2) LPA: our dance this Friday!
3) Springdale Volleyball Tournament: my absolute favorite tourney!
4) HAWAII!!!!!!!!!!!!!: we leave for Hawaii the 15th!
As you can see the next 3 weeks or so are going to be amazing! I can’t wait to relax on the beach and get a nice tan while eating some pineapple.
Back to Buzz-A-Thon real fast; it was a lot of fun. I was here at the school from about 8:30 AM to 2:30 AM and I slept all day Sunday basically. Alex and I anchored for the first time and I have to say I think we did pretty good. Despite the fact that we had just been scared 5 minutes before our hour. Thank you AC, Brady, Jordan, and the chain-saw…
Anyways, I’m way too excited about everything to even talk about it…
So until the next post…
Which will probably be after Hawaii..and I’ll be tan….
Ahhh!
Comments are off for this postCurty and His Star Wars
One of the worst feelings is being ignored. No one enjoys the neglect that occurs. So why do people do it I ask? Why?
I have been sick for the past 3 days and haven’t been at school. I have been trying to keep myself busy at home by watching season 2 of House and season 4 of Gilmore Girls. I have barely talked to anyone for 3 days and as result I’m pretty talkative now that I’m around people other than Doctor House and Rory Gilmore.
So as I prepare to write my blog I pause to tell my friend Curty (thats what I like to call him) about the season of House that I have been watching. I was describing the season finale, which is very good by the way, and he seemed interested. But on the contrary, Curt (thats what I call him when I’m upset with him) was not interested. As I talked about this suspenseful episode he watched a video about Star Wars! Not even about Star Wars the movies! Oh no! It was about Star Wars….THE VIDEO GAME!!!! That’s how unimportant I am…
Jerk…
Comments are off for this postP.S. Gerard Butler is Very Attractive….
Like with many families seeing a movie on Christmas Day is tradition, but this year the movie my parents wanted to see (National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets) was packed so they didn’t want to go. So instead my dear friend Meagan and I went to P.S I Love You. I can honestly tell you it is now one of my new favorite movies. I can safely say that just about any girl who sees it will either: A) Cry B) Laugh C) Want to find a hot Irish man to marry D) All of the above.
For me it was D, but mainly C. Oh and not just any man, Gerard Butler. He is very attractive (sexy is a better word), can sing, and has a smile that can make any girl melt. Not only that he is a great actor who can play many roles. Most guys would know him from 300. Granted I’m sure they wouldn’t agree with his sexiness but most girls would admit that they were paying more attention the the abs in that movie than the actual movie…
It is a good movie though…even without the abs.
All of that to say go see P.S. I Love You!!!!!
Comments are off for this postUnplugged Computer And Writers Who Won’t Write
So, as of now my grade in HTV is apparently lower than it should be. All because my blog wasn’t posted. However, I clicked post last week, on a blog I had written, but it obviously didn’t post. As a result I will write another.
My HTV partner (for life I might add) Alex Tabor and I finished our story “Whose Video” for last months HTV. By watching you may think, “Hey that was pretty good, and must have went smoothly.” or you’re thinking “Wow, that story sucked.” Okay well, if your thoughts fit closer with the first comment, thank you and if they fit closer with the second….I’m not your biggest fan (no offense we just worked really hard ). Anyways we worked on that peice for weeks, doing research, interviews, and just trying to make it work (Project Runway reference). Well, let me take you back to the day of our deadline: November 15, 2007….
***imagine crazy dream sequence movie transition music inserted here***
I am in class, anixously awaiting the end of my school day so I could head down to HTV and get our story finished, when I hear some news from Alex. She was in the HTV room working dilligently on our story and then tragedy strikes. When I say tragedy, I really mean two Broadcast 1 kids, we’ll leave their names out of this (*cough* Bart and Josh*cough*). These two punks weren’t paying attention and somehow unplugged the computer Alex and I were working at. (Side Bar: If we hadn’t had been on I-Mac Island this wouldn’t have been a problem, Thanks Coach.) The screen goes black and a sense of fear and panic come over Alex. We had lost all of what we had done that day on our story. There was no way of getting it back. That included not only the things on our timeline but our entire written script for the story. Which with this kind of story was very needed. So we had to start back at where we ahd left off the day before. Which may not sound like that big of a deal, but we had gotten a lot of work done that day. As you can tell, our story got finished on time and everything’s all good. However, those two (Bart and Josh) are lucky I wasn’t the one in the room when it happened. I hope they know how lucky they are. I’m pretty sure they do, I’ve been sure to tell them. So in the future, there will be no Broadcast 1 kids near our computer.
I love the writers of T.V. and movies. However, right now I am a bit frustrated. I am on their side that they deserve more money, I mean come on they do right the scripts to the shows we all know, love and spend hours upon hours watching. If only those dumb guys in charge of their paychecks would realize that. Do they realize what they’re doing to all of us? My friend Alex is a religous “Heroes” fanatic, and I’m concerned what she might do if the show doesn’t return. I haven’t stayed too caught up with many shows, sad to admit. I was recently introduced to the Office and I am in LOVE with it!! It is so funny and never a waste of time, in my opinion. Since I was introduced so late in the game, the lack of new episodes hasn’t affected me just yet. I know it will soon though, I finished season two over Thanksgiving Break and let me tell you am I anxious about what’s to come in season three. Snce I am behind in the season I can just go rent season three and hopefully by the time I finish that the writers strike will be over and all will be well with the world. That is how I plan to survive through it. I will rent as many seasons and watch as many episodes online as it takes for me to distract myself from this strike. I just hope it doesn’t go as long as it’s predicted……one website said it would be around this time NEXT YEAR!! They can’t do that, they just can’t…..
Well, according to the title of this blog I am finished. However, I will leave you with this: I have started kniting and I have finish four (almost five scarves) and I suggest it for anyone who is stressed. It’s really relaxing. Maybe you should take up knitting, Coach Davis….just a thought.
